Location

Mount High is in the beautiful Finsbury Valley and forms part of the gated Mount Anderson Nature Reserve. The valley is known for its good waters and fly-fishing in the Spekboom River, its views and tranquil surrounds and natural small game in the area. The magnificent mountain range is a spur of the Mpumalanga Drakensberg with altitudes from 1,600 to 2,000 meters above sea-level. The climate is pleasant - not too hot in summers, moderate for most of the year and cool to cold in winters. Rain falls abundantly (but not incessantly), resulting in lovely green hills and waterfalls in summer. Fresh air, peace and quiet is a given.

Lydenburg/Mashishing, the closest town, has a sound infrastructure of shops, medical centres and schools.

Picture an eagle soaring over cliffs and dramatic ravines of the Mpumalanga Drakensberg. Picture herds of golden wildebeest running past, with nyala, sable antelope and reedbuck on the horizon. Now picture yourself seeing what the eagle sees from a deck chair next to an infinity pool at 1,600 metres above sea level.

This exclusive country lodge, game farm and awarded wedding venue is perched on a mountain top, offering breathtaking 180-degree views. The estate spans 755 hectares of untamed mountain wilderness, providing a unique and privileged setting where antelope and game freely roam.
 
The property has multiple use potential - as a well-stocked game farm, ideal for breeding exotic types, as an exquisite country lodge accommodating 26 people, or as an out-of-the-ordinary wedding venue for up to 80 guests. An elegant 7-bedroomed Manor House and 6 stylish luxury Stable Rooms, a restaurant and events venue and a manager’s cottage are surrounded by acres of lush gardens.

The Manor House features an expansive open-plan kitchen, dining and entertaining space with large fireplaces, contemporary furnishings and quality kitchenware. The main house has four generous en-suite bedrooms with Romeo balconies, a wine-tasting room with a cellar and a separate TV room. An adjacent double-storey houses a games room, a large bar area downstairs and a two-bedroomed en-suite cottage with a small kitchenette above. An infinity swimming pool rests on a large deck with sun loungers and comfortable outdoor furniture.

The six individual en-suite luxury Stable Rooms once housed the Arabian horses that roam freely in the farm's paddocks. This separate funky complex, furnished with a romantic and rustic flair, provides an authentic equestrian ambience. It also features a communal kitchen and TV room.
On the periphery of the manicured garden is the 80-seater restaurant and wedding venue, which opens onto magnificent mountain views. The charming venue, with a bar and catering kitchen, is fully equipped with state-of-the-art furniture, walk-in cold rooms and everything needed to create an ambience on tap.

Directions

From Johannesburg, take the N4 to Belfast/Emakhazeni, then R540 to Dullstroom on to Lydenburg/Mashishing. Then R36 towards Ohrigstad for 8km - take dirt road turn-off to Mount High for 8km.
