Description

Tenuta Poggitazzi is a property located in the heart of Chianti Valdarno, known for its inestimable cultural and landscape value and immersed in a natural oasis among the suggestive Tuscan hills. The estate is located in a strategic position, a short distance from the main cities of art such as Florence, Arezzo, Siena on the path of an ancient Etruscan origin the Antica Cassia Vetus, consular road that connected Rome to Florence.

The entire property extends over 430 hectares of land, which constitute the farm and surround the main nucleus and business center: an ancient rural village that includes the historic villa of the fifteenth century with agricultural annexes, the eighteenth-century manor house and the farm, The farmhouse was originally built in 1900 as a factory. In the immediate vicinity of the village there are 11 farms with independent farmhouses. The main part of the village is made up of a very complex architectural structure, consisting of the Villa historical, built on an ancient Ghibelline fortification destroyed around 1270 in the feud between Guelphs and Ghibellines and rebuilt from 1300, and still maintains a typically Renaissance architecture and an eighteenth-century villa in the style of a stately home of the time, besides a private church.

The three main buildings that identify in the village and correspond to the historic villa and the eighteenth-century villa are connected by underground, courtyards and hallways that delimit the two beautiful gardens; They are spread over several levels and enjoy a lovely panoramic view of the surrounding countryside. In the eighteenth-century villa, on the ground floor, an elegant entrance leads to a cozy living room, a dining room and a kitchen with fireplace, while the first floor houses additional frescoed rooms and customizable environments, In addition to a representative hall and areas intended for guest houses; everywhere the restoration carried out maintain intact the charm of the historic residence. In the historic villa on the first floor there are large spaces for receptions and events and on the ground floor a stone mill for cold milling of extra virgin olive oil obtained from 7000 olive trees of the Leccino cultivars, Moraiolo and Frantoio on the 40 hectares of olive groves in the surrounding hills and a cellar dating back to the Renaissance period, in fact the estate includes vineyards for 15 hectares with Chianti DOCG vineyards.

The agricultural part also consists of 130 hectares of arable land and 70 hectares of forest, as well as pastures and fallow land; all the grounds are crossed by paths useful for agricultural work and for the hunting reserve, where pheasant and ungulate trips can be organized. At 200m from the village is located the farmhouse restored respecting the Tuscan rural style, with exposed beams, terracotta floors and wrought iron accessories, furnished with Tuscan-style furniture, in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, maintaining all the characteristics of Tuscan farms. In the olive grove that is located between the village and the farm has been inserted large pool with a beautiful view of the valley, perfect for relaxing moments with other areas immersed in the green of boxwood hedges and olive trees in direct contact with nature.

Estate's history

The name of the property comes from a contamination of the name "Poggio dei Pazzi" with reference to the Valdarnese branch of the historic Florentine family. The estate is mentioned in Dante’s Divina Commedia, in the XII and XIII songs, which refer to Camiciotto and Raniero dei Pazzi del Valdarno from which derives the name Poggio dei Pazzi. The current coat of arms of the estate belongs to the Libri family, an ancient family of Florentine notaries, who left an indelible mark on the history of the property and took possession of the estate in the early 1300s, after the Battle of Campaldino.
