Egrets Rise is set in an elevated, rural position just outside Salisbury and close to the villages of Alderbury and Whaddon. Local amenities can be found in both villages, including a village store, a post office, a local pub and a primary school as well as tennis and football clubs.

The area is very popular for the country sports enthusiast with fishing on the River Avon and its tributaries, good shoots and an abundance of walking and particularly riding across the New Forest and over the network of footpaths and bridleways in the area.

Upon reaching the Alderbury village sign, fork right into Shute End. Egrets Rise can be found on the right hand side after about fifty metres.
