Location

Wilberfoss village boasts a general store/post office, church, public house, butcher and hairdresser. There is an active community with an annual duck race and a popular scarecrow festival, the local community centre hosts a number of activities, sports and fitness classes as well as arts and theatre groups. The Pavilion Bar and Bistro is on the edge of the village with playing fields hosting the local football club, tennis and archery.   

Wilberfoss is a fantastic location and is well connected to the A166 to the coast, A64 and A1079, which provides connections to Hull, York and Leeds.

The village is well serviced by a regular bus route to York city centre and there is a local primary school (Academy) and a children’s nursery within the village. The nearest secondary school is at Pocklington – Woldgate School and Sixth Form (Academy).

There are independent schools available in York; The Mount, Bootham and St. Peters. Pocklington School is a well-regarded private school taking pupils from ages 4–18 years and Queen Margaret's School for Girls is about 11.5 miles.

Pocklington market town (5 miles) is close to hand offering a wider range of amenities, cafes, restaurants, a health centre, dentist, leisure centre, cinema, post office, banks and supermarkets. There are also tennis, football, rugby and a cricket club. Kilnwick Percy Resort and Golf Club is situated just outside the town. The nearby villages of Stamford Bridge (3.6 miles) and Dunnington (5 miles) provide a range of shops and services including post office, convenience store, hairdressers, primary schools, public houses and coffee shop. Along with sports facilities including a gym at Dunnington. Elvington (4.3 miles) has a village shop, primary school, church, hairdresser, doctors surgery and sports club along with a pub and an active village hall with a variety of clubs and groups.

Monks Cross and The Vanguard shopping centre are about 10 miles away and offer extensive shopping including a flagship Marks and Spencer and various supermarkets. York Leisure Centre at Monks Cross offers gym facilities, swimming pool and a sports hall with a Clip N Climb arena.   

York City Centre has a railway station and racecourse, not to mention theatres, restaurants and shops. York’s mainline railway station offers regular services to major cities including Manchester, Edinburgh and London with some journeys taking less than two hours to make the journey to Kings Cross. The city boasts excellent restaurants including the award winning The Star Inn the City by Andrew Pern and the Michelin-starred restaurant, Roots, by Tommy Banks. In addition, there is Skosh by Neil Bentinck which also boasts a Michelin-star, positioned on popular Micklegate.
