Barnacarry occupies an incredible elevated setting overlooking Barnacarry Bay, just 3 miles from the village of Strachur. Comprising only a cluster of cottages, Leachd, the nearest hamlet, nestles alongside the shore of one of Scotland's longest and finest sea lochs. Loch Fyne is famous the world over for its oysters, breathtaking scenery, challenging sailing waters and stunning castles including Inveraray Castle and Castle Lachlan.

Nearby Strachur has its own post office, primary school, tearoom and village pub/restaurant, while the acclaimed restaurant Inver (winner of the first Green Michelin Star) is also close to the cottage. Schooling at secondary level is offered in Dunoon, some 21 miles away, where there is also extensive shopping, a supermarket (which delivers to the area), cinema and hospital. Glasgow International Airport is just over an hour's drive away under normal driving conditions and has regular domestic and international flights.

Description

Barnacarry is a traditional stone built cottage situated on the edge of Loch Fyne. The accommodation spans two floors and consists of three double bedrooms, a dining room, kitchen, shower room and ample storage. The property benefits from a traditional comfortable cottage charm with timber ceilings, exposed wooden beams and a wood burning stove in the living room. Traditional wooden doors with original latches, and exposed timber are very much a feature throughout the property. The kitchen has a series of fixed and movable units providing ample work surfaces as well as an electric hob and oven and an oil fired range. To the front of the house is a wonderful garden room with the original slate shelves.
The principal property is charming and comfortable although it would be fair to suggest that it would benefit from some upgrading. It is however, not the internal presentation that makes Barnacarry such a precious gem within the beautiful region of Argyll, but the outlook and surrounding land which are simply breath taking. 41 acres of woodland and grassland that lead all the way down to, and include, the shoreline of Loch Fyne, make Barnacarry a very special place. These splendid views can be seen from almost every room as well as from the many vantage points situated in the grounds.
Barnacarry is set amidst spectacular cottage gardens which seasonally are awash with colour. Of particular note is the stream which meanders through its grounds and directly into Loch Fyne. This burn forms the eastern boundary of the property and may present an opportunity to explore sustainable schemes such as hydro-electric power (subject to planning).
