Glen Carraig is set in a wonderful elevated position with magnificent open aspects to the Isle of Shuna, Morven peninsula and Lismore island. The sought after village of Port Appin lies on the coast just north of Loch Creran as it meets the sea. It has two well respected seafood restaurants with The Pierhouse recently winning 'Romantic Restaurant of the Year' at the Hotels Scotland Awards. Port Appin is the terminal for the Lismore passenger ferry.

There is a local primary school, a well-stocked community shop and post office plus a doctors' surgery in the village. The area has a thriving community with a number of community events, walks, coffee mornings, and art group which hosts a yearly exhibition. Port Appin is also known for excellent sailing, sea kayaking, paddle-boarding and is home to the community skiff. The hillwalking and mountaineering opportunities in the area are spectacular. A wide range of other facilities are available in Oban, which is around 19 miles from Port Appin and has a good variety of shops and professional services.

The peaceful atmosphere of Port Appin is complemented by its convenient proximity to the dramatic landscapes of Glencoe (19 miles), the outdoor adventure hub of Fort William, (30 miles) and trails to the Nevis Range. The surrounding area boasts a wealth of further sporting and recreational opportunities including some of the best skiing, fishing and shooting in Scotland, and is ideal for those pursuing hillwalking, climbing, mountain biking, water sports and golf. It is also a haven for wildlife.

Directions: From Glasgow, travel west on (A82). At the top of Loch Lomond turn right at the village of Tarbert and continue along the (A82) through Ardlui to Crianlarich. Continue on the (A82) at Tyndrum signposted Fort William. Go through Glencoe and Ballachulish. Take the 2nd exit at the roundabout sign posted (A828) Oban. Pass Stalker Castle and into Appin. After the police house and garden centre take the first right turn signposted Port Appin, Lismore Ferry. In Port Appin go past The Airds Hotel on your left, past the shop, around the sharp bend, with the shoreline on the right. Glen Carraig is on the left hand side.
