Villefranche-sur-Mer and its famous bay lies 6km east of Nice and approximately 10km south west of Monaco.

The old harbour dates to 17th century but nautical ties to the area predate the Roman presence in the area. As one of the deepest natural harbours in the Mediterranean Sea, Villefranche attracts significant visitor levels who are keen to explore the Riviera coastline.
