Seven Gables sits in an outstanding beachfront setting within Elie, in close proximity to The Ship Inn and other services and amenities offered by the popular coastal village.
With one of Scotland's finest sandy beaches on its doorstep, Elie is well known for its water sports, including sailing, paddle-boarding and windsurfing, all of which take place in the sheltered bay, while on land there are two golf courses, one the acclaimed 18-hole course and a short 9-hole course suitable for beginners. Several hard tennis courts and a bowling green are also available within the village. Elie Sports Club offers group and individual coaching in golf and tennis during school holidays. Elie is well served by pubs and cafés which include the renowned Ship Inn.    Elie is in the East Neuk of Fife, famed for its picturesque fishing villages and unspoilt beaches.   St Andrews, the home of golf and the setting for one of Britain's oldest universities, is only 14 miles away. There are traditional links golf courses at nearby Crail, Leven and Lundin Links and new courses at Kingsbarns and St Andrews Bay. Edinburgh is around 45 miles away accessed by road, or from the nearest train station at Leven which is 10 miles to the west of Elie.

Description

Seven Gables is a wonderfully characterful semi-detached house, situated in an enviable position overlooking Elie Beach. The house is Category B listed, thought to originally date back to the 17th century, with conversion works carried out in around 1900. The accommodation is set over two floors, with stunning sea views from the south facing rooms in the house. The enclosed garden has a gate from which there is direct access to the beach.

The front door from South Street opens up into an inner porch, with the dining hall beyond. This room has an abundance of traditional character with exposed timber ceiling beams, shelved alcoves, and south facing windows looking out over the garden. Beyond this is a central hallway which leads to the stunning bow-ended drawing room overlooking the beach. A log burner sits in the heart of the room, and there are some lovely features including a white painted ceiling and wall panelling and built-in window seats from which to admire the breathtaking coastal views. The kitchen sits off the central hall and is fitted with cabinets and has a door into the adjacent utility room. Also off this hall is a shower room, and beyond it a door leads into the integral garage. The boiler and hot water cylinder are located here, with double garage doors onto South Street.

A beautiful, timber staircase with bespoke curved balustrades leads up to the first floor landing. The principal bedroom sits above the drawing room, and has elevated views over the beach and across the Firth of Forth, thanks to floor to ceiling windows running the full width of the room and further side windows looking up and down the beach. A glass door opens up onto the roof above the bow end of the drawing room below, and overlooking the beach. This bright and spacious room also has an original fireplace and a vanity unit with wash hand basin. It has an en suite with bath and overhead shower attachment, which also has a separate door connecting it to the landing. Two further bedrooms sit off the landing, both with fitted storage space. The fourth bedroom has decorative ceiling plasterwork, and sits beyond bedroom 3, with both rooms benefiting from south facing sea views. Off the landing there is a bathroom and separate WC.

The garden is accessed from a door leading out from the ground floor hallway. It is a private lawned area with stocked borders. A gate opens to the rocks which slope down onto the beach below.
