The village, together with neighbouring Eastcombe, offers many amenities including pubs, shops, churches, a Post Office, two primary schools and Thomas Keble School, the local comprehensive. There are excellent walking, riding and cycling routes from the doorstep, while nearby Stroud provides more comprehensive facilities including a Waitrose supermarket, cinema and an award-winning farmers market.

Sporting opportunities in the area include golf at Minchinhampton (two courses), racing at Cheltenham, sailing at the Cotswold Water Park, polo at Cirencester Park, gliding at Aston Down as well as local rugby and cricket clubs. There are lovely walks over Minchinhampton and Rodborough Commons where cattle freely roam in the summer months.

The larger centres of Tetbury, Cirencester and Cheltenham provide a wider range of amenities, recreational facilities and cultural activities. Communications are excellent with junction 13 of the M5 motorway being about 10 miles away giving access to Bristol and Birmingham. Trains from Kemble or Stroud London Paddington take approximately 70-90 minutes.

From Cirencester, follow the A419 west towards Stroud. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Cowcombe Hill and continue on the A419. After 1.5 miles turn right onto Old Neighbourhood. Follow the road for about 0.5 miles and then turn right at the crossroads onto Abnash. After 0.2 miles turn right onto Middle Hill and follow the road to Coppice Hill for about 0.3 miles; the property will be on the left-hand side before the Baptist church.
