Location

Skylark is in a magnificent position overlooking a wide sweep of countryside, rugged coastline and the ocean. Port Isaac is a short distance over the nearest hill and is well known as an historic fishing port and for the picturesque cottages in the narrow streets that wind down to the harbour.

In recent years visitors have been keen to visit the setting for the television series 'Doc Martin' and to enjoy the harbourside performances of Fisherman’s Friends. Double Michelin award winning chef Nathan Outlaw hosts two restaurants. For everyday amenities there is a supermarket, primary school, doctors’ surgery, the parish church and a village hall supported by a lively local community.

Built in 2021, this timber-clad house presents an individual style where the contemporary and reclaimed retro blend perfectly. An interesting contrast is created between the black timber exterior and the light filled interior where large windows and generously proportioned rooms create a bright, unfussy and relaxed atmosphere. The distinctive styling is consistent throughout the house, with many attractive design details, from the reclaimed oak floors and colourful, glazed door panels to antique brass taps and exquisite tiles.

A triple aspect kitchen, more than large enough for a large family sized table, is open to the living room and, via bifold doors, to the west facing terrace. Also on the ground floor are two double bedrooms, en suite and with lovely views, as well as a large laundry cupboard and a guest WC. Upstairs a wide landing opens to two more spacious bedrooms and a bathroom, all designed as equally attractive, characterful rooms.

A gate opens from the lane into a wide parking area alongside which a track goes into the meadow which surrounds the garden, over four acres in total. A triple doored outhouse provides secure storage.

The garden is a level lawn edged with hedging shrubs and laid with a paved path to the front door. A wooden terrace and sunken paved patio create a perfect area to enjoy the view, the peace and quiet of this lovely location and endlessly interesting nature, sky and seascapes.

Directions

From the A39 at Wadebridge take the B3314 towards Port Isaac and continue until St Endellion Church, taking the left turn beside it towards Port Quin. Follow to the next junction and take the right turn into a narrow road with width limit signage for Port Isaac. Skylark is a little way along this road, the first property on the right.
