Situation and Communications
Wormington is a small Gloucestershire village and lies within the Cotswolds AONB. It is served by St Katherine's church, a C12th Grade II* listed building, and offers a friendly and sociable community with a number of events held through the year. A convenience store in nearby Toddington (approximately 3.5 miles) provides for everyday needs, while Broadway and Winchcombe (approximately 4 and 6 miles respectively) provide a much wider range of amenities. The village is surrounded by beautiful countryside with a number of public footpaths and bridleways providing access.

Cheltenham, Stratford-upon-Avon and Worcester provide more comprehensive cultural, shopping and educational facilities. There is an excellent mainline rail service to London Paddington in about 90 minutes from Moreton-in-Marsh (14 miles). There is a golf course at Willersey Hill (Broadway) and two courses near Evesham in addition to courses at Stratford-upon-Avon, Worcester and Cheltenham. National Hunt Racing is at Cheltenham, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick and Worcester. Polo is at Cirencester Park and cricket at Worcester.

Theatres are to be found in Cheltenham and Stratford-upon-Avon, including the renowned Royal Shakespeare Theatre. There is excellent schooling in the general area with high achieving state and private schools at Chipping Campden, Evesham, Stratford-upon-Avon, Worcester and Cheltenham.

The Cotswolds' year is packed with events, ranging from world famous international festivals like Cheltenham Literature Festival and Cheltenham Gold Cup Week to major musical events such as the Wilderness Festival and the Big Feastival, as well as a jam-packed events calendar featuring concerts, exhibitions, arts and literature festivals and theatrical productions.

Description

Wormington Manor is believed to date from the early 1800s and is not listed. The house and surrounding walls are constructed of mellow re brick beneath a stone slate roof. The front façade has a very pleasing symmetry with six sash windows to either side of the impressive front door and a projecting wing to each side of the property.

The gardens and grounds are particularly special and provide a wonderful setting for the Manor, which, whilst on the edge of village, is particularly private. The Manor has many fine period features, including open fireplaces, fine cornices and plasterwork and wooden floors. Wormington Manor has a wonderful series of reception rooms and good proportion of bedroom suites, providing a fantastic family home that is also outstanding for entertaining. The beautifully appointed traditional accommodation extends to 8,460 sq. ft including the flat.

A reception hall with large carved stone fireplace, wall panelling and wood parquet floor opens to a welcoming staircase hall. Double doors open to the generous drawing room with handsome fireplace, moulded plaster ceiling cornice and views to the front and side. From the staircase hall, doors open to the dining room with large ornately carved stone fireplace. To the side is the garden room with French windows opening onto the garden. Returning to the reception hall, a door leads into a very welcoming morning room with carved stone fireplace and window seats.

A door from the staircase hall opens to a rear hall which provides access to the kitchen, conservatory and a series of smaller rooms including a second kitchen and utility. This wing could be used as staff accommodation. The main kitchen is fully fitted with an excellent range of units, a central island and Aga and other kitchen appliances. Steps lead down from the kitchen to a superb and spacious conservatory which overlooks the parterre garden. Beyond the main kitchen is a well-equipped butlers pantry leading to an additional pantry space. Completing the ground floor is a guest cloakroom.

Gardens and Grounds
Wormington Manor has stunning gardens laid out with a series of 'rooms'. The property is approached through electric gates and onwards along a long winding driveway through parkland with mature lawns, ornamental trees, a large fishpond and a fountain.   

Adjoining the east elevation is a paved terrace and a party-walled parterre garden with a raised fishpond. A wrought iron gate leads to a formal garden laid to areas of lawn with a sundial in the centre. Steps rise from the parterre garden to a large expanse of beautifully maintained lawn. Nearby is a charming pathway with herbaceous borders which terminates at a pair of ornamental gates opening to a path with manicured hedges leading to the edge of the property.

The swimming pool is sheltered on three sides by mature hedging. The Pool House is well-appointed with a sitting/dining room and kitchen and just one of many places on the property ideal for al fresco dining. There is also a timber summer house.
