An inauspicious entrance from the public road leads along a private gravelled laneway to a tarred parking courtyard in front of the house. A separate spur from the laneway leads to the boat house and a right of access to a natural boat ramp access point. Sweeney’s, a combined pub, restaurant, convenience store, post office and petrol station is a 5-minute drive away (1.7 miles or 2.7km) or can be reached from a beach walk. Cleggan fishing village is 3.7 miles or 5.9 km away and has seafood restaurants (Oliver’s and Little Fish), a convenience store, a school, the ferry port to Inishbofin Island and pubs (Joyces and Newman’s). Picturesque Clifden town, nestled between the Twelve Bens mountains and the Atlantic Ocean, is a 22-minute drive (6.5 miles or 10.4 km) by car or boat and has a larger array of facilities and amenities. Knock airport is a 1hr 57-minute drive, Dublin airport 3hrs 26 minutes and Shannon airport 2hrs 19minutes.
