Location
The residential area called Olgiata has an area of 612 hectares crossed by more than 30 kilometers of roads with about 8000 residents. It is part of the City of Rome. The district acquired its current name in 1566 years in which Alessandro Olgiati bought it from Paolo Giordano Orsini, Duke of Bracciano. The territory on which it is places is closely linked to the Via Cassia. In the Middle Ages the road was the main artery linking Rome and France so as to take the name of Via Franchigena or Francisca. A pilgrimage to arrive in Rome from the center of France took about a month. Convents, monasteries and inns (osterie) were the dining options. The “L'osteria del Fosso”, the “Osteria della Storta” and the “Osteria di Baccano” are still well preserved. It is about 40 minutes from Fiumicino Airport and about 30 from the beaches of Fregene.
