The historic village of Gomshall nestles at the foot of the North Downs and is in the heart of the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Tucked away down a semi rural country lane, Long Spinney occupies a delightfully tranquil location surrounded by its beautiful grounds. The nearby villages of Shere, Peaslake, Abinger and Forest Green offer between them a selection of local shopping for daily needs including two excellent farm shops. Both these towns have mainline stations that provide direct services into London with journey times (from Guildford) from around 37 minutes whilst the Tonbridge – Reading line at Gomshall provides a useful east-west link and also connects with Gatwick Airport.   

There is a wide choice of schools in the local area including Belmont Preparatory, Duke of Kent, Cranleigh School, St Teresa's, and Hurtwood House among many others.   

Recreational opportunities in the area include polo at Hurtwood Park, golf at a number of clubs within easy reach and a choice of well-equipped sport and leisure centres at Dorking, Cranleigh or Guildford.

In addition, the surrounding Surrey Hills provides some super walking, cycling and riding opportunities.
