Location

Buchlyvie is a charming Stirlingshire village about 15 miles west of Stirling, and about 10 miles from Loch Lomond. Today it is a popular village with its own primary school (feeding into the highly regarded Balfron High School), village shop, pub and gallery. The village is about an hour's drive from both Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Stirling, designated a city, was the seat of the Kings of Scotland in the Middle Ages and its historic castle sits high above the former town. The present-day city provides a full range of shops, schools and services including a cinema and a sports centre with swimming pool. Glasgow (24 miles) is one of the UK's most fashionable cities with outstanding shopping, excellent theatres and a thriving business district. There are regular mainline train services to Edinburgh, Glasgow and London.

High Garchell is also well placed for the amenities and towns of central Scotland with ready access to the Highlands and Loch Lomond.

High Garchell is a substantial and charming country house in excellent order. Thought to date from the mid 19th century, the present owners have made some significant improvements which include the latest addition of the orangery which is a wonderful space to sit and enjoy the beautiful rural outlook.

Directions

From Glasgow take the A81 through Blanefeld, past Killearn towards Aberfoyle. Do not take the A811 junction towards Stirling but continue on the A81 towards Aberfoyle Turn right on the B835 towards Buchlyvie for exactly one mile. High Garchell is third entrance on the left (signposted)
