Location

Wynford Eagle lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and is a pretty rural hamlet set amongst glorious, undulating West Dorset countryside.

Villages of note nearby include Maiden Newton (about 2.5 miles) which has a doctors surgery, railway line to Weymouth, Bath and Bristol and useful petrol filling station, Cerne Abbas, Sydling St Nicholas and Evershot.

The larger towns of Bridport, Beaminster, Sherborne, Dorchester, Poundbury and Yeovil are all within easy driving distance and provide an excellent variety of shopping, educational, recreational and cultural facilities.

The world renowned Jurassic coastline is approximately 20 minutes away.

There are a variety of sporting and leisure pursuits in the area with numerous food, art and cultural events throughout the year.

Footpaths and bridleways intersperse across the countryside for riding, walkers and dog lovers.

The A303 to the north of Yeovil provides a route towards the M3, London and the Home Counties.

Sherborne, Yeovil and Dorchester provide mainline rail routes to London Paddington and Waterloo.

Local primary school in Maiden Newton and secondary school in Beaminster. The area is also particularly well served by independent schools at Sherborne Preparatory School, Sherborne School for Boys, Sherborne School for Girls, Perrott Hill and Leweston. There are good state schools in the area including the Gryphon School at Sherborne and Thomas Hardye School at Dorchester.

Directions

Proceed West through Maiden Newton on the A356 towards Beaminster. Just before exiting the village take the left hand turn signposted to Wynford Eagle, Compton Valence & Bridport. Proceed for about 200 yards then turn right to Wynford Eagle. Proceed into Wynford Eagle and past the right hand turn to Askerswell and Bridport. Continue for about 1 mile passing some cottage on the left hand side. Brookside Farm is located on the right further down the lane.
