Location

The land at Finavon is located in Angus, an area renowned for its prime arable land and scenic landscapes. It is located 6 miles to the north east of the town of Forfar and 7.5 miles south west of the Cathedral City of Brechin. The area is characterised by a gently rolling landscape of productive arable land lying between the Angus Glens to the west and the famous coastal "golden mile" to the east. The area is well served by agricultural merchants, dealers and contractors.

Description

Extending to about 125 acres in total, the land at Finavon sits in a contiguous block and is accessed directly off a minor public road directly off the A90 dual carriageway. The land is split across three fields and includes 103.55 acres of arable ground and 17.35 acres of pasture to the south, bordering the Lemno Burn, which provides useful grazing ground for livestock.

The land lies between 50m and 75m above sea level and is mainly classified by the James Hutton Institute for Soil Research as Class 2 with the pasture land classified as 3(1) and 3(2).

The soil is mainly derived from Forfar series and is capable of growing excellent yields of the full range of arable and vegetable crops.

The present arable farming system is based on a rotation including: spring barley, winter wheat, seed potatoes and spring protein peas. The pasture is used for grazing cattle.
