Top Cottage is situated in the hamlet of Littley Green in a delightful rural situation. Littley Green has a pub and in the next village of Howe Street is the renowned Green Man restaurant and bar. Further shopping and recreational facilities are to be found in Great Dunmow, Braintree and Chelmsford with local amenities at Great Waltham or Felsted.

There is a good selection of schools with an infants' school at Great Waltham, New Hall School within seven miles and Felsted within three miles.   

For the commuter there is a train service to London Liverpool Street from Chelmsford and in 2025, a new station at Beaulieu Park. There is access onto the A12 at Chelmsford and Beaulieu and onto the A120 at Great Dunmow, which links with the M11 Junction 8 at Stansted Airport/Bishop's Stortford.

Constructed in 1976, Top Cottage is positioned on an elevated site to take advantage of the views over the surrounding countryside. Despite the rural feel, Littley Green and its popular pub, The Compasses, are within a few miles of Felsted, Chelmsford city and the soon-to-open Beaulieu railway station.

At the rear of the house, with fantastic views over the gardens and countryside beyond is the kitchen/breakfast room and dining room. These rooms together extend to over 30 ft, creating a wonderful family area. The kitchen is fitted with gloss fronted units topped with contrasting stone-effect tops and include oven, hob and cooker hood. Adjoining, a spacious utility room extends the full depth of the house, comprehensively fitted and with access out to the rear gardens.

On the first floor is a spacious landing with access to a family bathroom. There are four bedrooms, all with lovely views. The principal bedroom has an en suite. Three of the bedrooms overlook the gardens, with panoramic views over the surrounding countryside. One of the bedrooms has studwork divisions providing storage rooms, which could be easily removed to create a very large room.

A long drive provides good parking, access to a detached cart lodge and in addition, a single attached garage. The gardens and grounds adjoin open farmland and have a large terrace, which is a lovely area for al fresco dining in the warmer months. The gardens wrap around the house, with extensive lawns with a scattering of evergreen and deciduous trees, including apple, greengage and damson trees. There are various outbuildings.
