Location

Stanford Avenue is situated on the western side of Hassocks, only a three-minute walk (0.1 of a mile) to the railway station. Both Hassocks and the adjoining village of Hurstpierpoint offer a good range of local shops including bakeries, butchers, green grocers, chemists and independent shops, together with amenities including a variety of restaurants, public houses, a health centre, primary schools and churches.   

Comprehensive Shopping: Burgess Hill (2.5 miles), Haywards Heath (6.5 miles), Lewes (nine miles) and Brighton (eight miles).

Sussex offers a vibrant cultural scene, with world-class opera at Glyndebourne, theatre at Royal Tunbridge Wells and the historic County town of Lewes, and the annual Brighton Festival presenting a huge programme of theatre, dance, classical music and literary events.      

Transport links are excellent, with frequent services to London from Hassocks station (London Bridge/London Victoria from 56 minutes), and further services at Burgess Hill and Haywards Heath. The A23/M23 is readily accessed to the west of the village (Gatwick airport 21 miles, M25 J7 30 miles).   

Schools: There are a number of highly regarded state and independent schools and colleges in the local area, including Hassocks Infants and Windmill Junior school, Downlands Community College, Burgess Hill Girls, Cumnor House, Great Walstead, Hurstpierpoint College, Ardingly College, Lewes Old Grammar School and Brighton College.
