Location

Froghole Farm outside the charming village of Five Ashes, a small village in East Sussex that is primarily a residential area with some local amenities including a village hall, playing fields and a public house. The village is surrounded by beautiful countryside and is close to the popular market town of Heathfield (approx. 3.9 miles). There are also several walking and cycling trails in the area for outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy, including Wilderness Wood, reached within approximately 1.9 miles.

The village of Mayfield reached within approx. 3.2 miles, and enjoys excellent amenities including The Middle House, known for its good food, a convenience store, Post Office, chemist, wine store, florist, dentist and doctors’ surgeries, hairdresser, delicatessen, bakery and butcher.

The nearby market town of Heathfield offers a range of supermarkets, including Waitrose, cafes, restaurant and independent boutiques, and is home to the leisure route, the Cuckoo Trail, a 14 mile trail running from Heathfield to Shinewater Park.

Tunbridge Wells is reached within approx. 11.3 miles, and is the only spa town in the Southeast of England, offering elegant architecture and extensive cultural, entertainment and shopping attractions, including theatres, cafés and restaurants, national retailers and characterful independent shops on the High Street and historic Pantiles, known for its charming Georgian colonnade and summer Jazz festivals, and regular craft and food markets. The south coast towns of Eastbourne and Brighton are approximately 20 miles and 24 miles respectively.

Mainline rail: Buxted (approx. 4.4 miles) offers a regular service to London Victoria from 1hr 19 mins, or Crowborough (at Jarvis Brook approx. 5.4 miles) to London Bridge in just over an hour. Wadhurst railway station (approx. 8.7 miles) with journey times to London Bridge from 53 minutes.

State and private schools: Five Ashes has its own village primary school and Skippers Hill, a private preparatory school, whilst Mayfield has a primary School and Mayfield School for Girls at senior level. Wadhurst, Crowborough and Heathfield all have community colleges and further independent senior schools include Bedes (Upper Dicker), Tonbridge, Sevenoaks, Brighton and Eastbourne College.

Directions

From Tunbridge Wells head south on the A267 towards Eastbourne. On reaching the Mayfield roundabout after about 9 miles, continue on towards Heathfield. Having passed through Five Ashes, take the second turning on the left-hand side into Froghole Lane and the gates to the property will be seen after a short distance about 0.3 miles on the right-hand side.
