Location

Rhu is a pretty conservation village on the east side of the Gare Loch where many lovely homes are found. Its friendly community is centred around the church, primary school and yachting life, as Rhu is home to the Royal Northern and Clyde Yacht Club and Rhu Marina. There is testing sailing on offer on the Firth of Clyde with access to the waters of the west coast of Scotland.

The neighbouring town of Helensburgh (3.4 miles) has been regarded as one of the west of Scotland's most desirable towns for well over a century since wealthy Glasgow merchants first began to build houses here. It offers excellent amenities including golf, bowling, specialist shopping, supermarkets, and local secondary schooling. Lomond School provides private schooling for day pupils and boarders. Further private schooling is easily accessible in Glasgow which can be reached by rail with a journey time of around 50 minutes.    Gardener's Cottage has good access to Glasgow with the A814, A82 and M8 allowing a daily commute by car of around an hour in normal driving conditions. Glasgow Airport is around 28miles and offers a variety of regular domestic and international flights.

Description

Gardener's Cottage is a stylish, contemporary one and a half storey detached architect- designed home, built by the present owner's family around seven years ago. It is of a timber framed construction with panelled cladding to parts of the front and side and rendered panel finishes to the side and rear, with a slate roof.

There is a shared private access road, with a driveway leading to the house and garage/outbuilding with parking.

The accommodation begins with a welcoming entrance hallway with a shower room to the side. A sliding door gives access to the stunning open plan sitting/dining room/kitchen which benefits from a fantastic double height ceiling with exposed ceiling beams, a wall of windows with glass door to the garden and also skylights to the front and rear. The front Lounge and kitchen windows are fitted with electric blinds. A wood burning range is a cosy focal point and there is beautiful limestone flooring throughout.   The kitchen area to the rear has room for dining along with cabinets housing a Belfast sink and electric oven and induction hob. A useful utility room to the rear has an additional Belfast sink and cupboards.   There is a shower room on the ground floor along with a downstairs bedroom with floor to ceiling glass window, and a door to the front patio area.   An open tread staircase leads to the first floor which is home to the principal bedroom. The bathroom on this level has a modern suite including a freestanding oval shaped bath and separate walk in shower.

Gardener's Cottage has a Sonos surround system throughout the downstairs and also a speaker fitted in the canopy of the sitting area outside.

There are good sized gardens at Gardener's Cottage with a useful workshop/home office with wood burning stove and garage space to the rear, which could be used as a workshop. There is also a wood store.

The gardens are mainly laid to lawn with trees and shrubs. A paved terrace to the front of the house leads to a pathway which winds through the garden.
