Location

Stonehaven is situated adjacent to the South West Coast Path, just a short walk from the beaches and West Bay harbour at the heart of the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famed for its rugged beauty and abundance of fossils.

There are three popular beaches, a charming, bustling harbour and a range of shops including a general store and a well renowned fishmonger.

There are a number of superb pubs, cafes and restaurants including the Station Kitchen, Rise and the Watch House Beach Café.

Approximately a mile to the north is the vibrant market town of Bridport which has a twice weekly market and a further excellent range of facilities including both national and independent shops, more restaurants, the Electric Palace cinema and theatre, The Bridport Arts centre, a leisure centre and supermarkets including Waitrose, Morrisons, Lidl & Co-Op.

The County town of Dorchester is 16.4 miles and Axminster 11 miles, both with a mainline railway service to London Waterloo.

The larger city of Exeter lies circa 37 miles to the west, with its international airport.

State schools locally include St Mary’s and the Bridport first schools and Sir John Colfox Academy and Colyton Grammar. Private schools include Perrott Hill prep, Sherborne School for boys; Sherborne School for girls, Leweston, Bryanston, Canford and Milton Abbey.

Stonehaven is an outstanding coastal house on a double plot with breathtaking sea views over Lyme Bay to Portland and panoramic countryside views over the River Brit Meadows and towards Bothenhampton. There are some fabulous spaces. On the ground floor, most notably is the stunning, beautifully appointed kitchen with central island, a simply lavish culinary entertaining space and dining area with bi-fold doors opening onto a patio terrace with outdoor kitchen and barbeque, set within a back drop of an established coastal garden with exotic mature plants and palms.

A stylish modern staircase leads to the landing from which there is access to a principal suite with splendid bathroom with statement bath, his and her basins and walk in shower, a walk-in wardrobe and Juliet balcony offering sea views. The sitting room is the piece de resistance not surprisingly having been designed to maximise the view. With oak flooring and a fully folding door out to a covered balcony area clad in timber. Part of this room is dedicated to an office space and could easily be more permanently sub divided.

Outside
The property is approached from a no through road where a private drive provides parking for several cars, with two x 7kW smart solar electric vehicle charging points. The landscaping is superb with an excellent mix of materials including oak topped dry stone walling and cobbled sets. Steps from the parking area lead to the main entrance of the house and a southerly facing sun deck with Swim Spa and separate hot tub and ample seating space, part covered by a timber clad veranda. To the east is the terraced lawn retained by an attractive stone wall and shrub border on the rear boundary. An outdoor kitchen and bbq area situated alongside a tiled terrace for dining and suffice to say the views from the garden are glorious.

Directions

From Bridport take the road to West Bay Harbour and proceed over the harbour river bridge. Carry straight on at the roundabout into Forty Foot Way and into the West Cliff Private Estate. After about 100 yards, turn left into First Cliff Walk and Stonehaven is the first house on the right hand side.
