Location

Mo Dhachaidh is situated on the edge of the village of Tomatin which is easily accessible from the A9 and about mid-way between Aviemore and Inverness. Tomatin has a shop, school and village hall. In the 1970s Tomatin was famous for having the largest distillery of malt whisky in Scotland.

Whilst Inverness (14 miles) offers high street shops and professional services, Aviemore (15 miles) and Grantown on Spey (19 miles) are popular holiday destinations from where visitors can get into the countryside and take part in a huge variety of activities from skiing, to hill walking, cycling, mountain biking and watersports in the lochs. The Cairngorms National Park is a little south and east of Tomatin and encompasses Britain's highest and most spectacular mountain terrain as well as its largest native forests. Together with its pristine rivers and lochs, moorland and farmland, it is a stronghold for Britain's wildlife. Likewise the coastline to the northeast of Inverness is stunning in a very different way with opportunities for sea fishing as well as dolphin and bird watching.

Description

Mo Dhachaidh is a traditional stone cottage which was re-built from a ruin in 1938 by the seller’s family. With whitewashed walls and green painted woodwork framing its dormer windows, it is a particularly pretty cottage. Over the years Mo Dhachaidh has been improved and modernised and most recently it has been run as a successful holiday rental property. Whilst Mo Dhachaidh still retains much of its traditional character, its interior has been sympathetically modernised and is extremely comfortable. The main entrance is at the back of the house which opens into a practical and welcoming reception hall / boot room with a WC. There is a cosy sitting room with an open fire on one side of the entrance hall and a kitchen/dining room on the other. The kitchen has a gas hob and a breakfast bar which looks over the dining room. Here there is a wood burning stove and space for a dining table. It is a lovely room to gather in. The dining room links to the conservatory which provides an additional sunny sitting area in the summer. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms and a bathroom.

Mo Dhachaidh would make a lovely home with letting potential or a permanent home for someone who would appreciate the grounds and outbuildings which may also be attractive to buyers running a small business.

Garden and grounds
Mo Dhachaidh sits in about 0.8 acres of garden and grounds. It is approached by a private driveway which has a turning circle beside the house. While the garden is mainly grass, it has in the past had a pretty front pathway and beautiful rose beds. It offers lots of potential for buyers interested in creating a productive garden (some raised beds are laid out in the back garden), growing wild or herbaceous flowers, planting an orchard or keeping hens.

Directions

From Perth follow the A9 north. About 14 miles south of Inverness turn off the A9 at the signpost to Tomatin. Turn left and follow the road into the village. Mo Dhachaidh is on the left hand side of the road after about 0.5 miles.
