Currently licensed and operated as a "Commercial" Bed & Breakfast Inn, dba the Black Walnut. This Historic structure is one of the most significant structures in the City of Asheville located in the center of "Montford Street" and in the middle of the Montford Historic District. Although considered a medium sized Bed & Breakfast this structure would be a very large Single family home. Black Walnut Bed & Breakfast Inn was designed and built by the supervising architect for The Biltmore Estate, Richard Sharp-Smith, in 1899. The Inn has been beautifully maintained and has retained its historic character and charm, with half-timbering pebbledash walls, original diamond-paned windows and corner turret. Modern improvements such as air conditioning, Wi-FI, and private bath en-suites, have been added to the Inn without sacrificing the original quality, workmanship, and details.
