Location

Pentire Avenue leads westwards out of Newquay to Pentire Headland, between Fistral Bay and Crantock Beach. Gwelva Lowenek has a clear view of Fistral Beach and the coastline beyond.
Since the 1960s, Newquay has been a popular surfing resort, with Fistral being the main attraction. Now, Rick Stein's Fistral adds to the year-round buzz, with other lovely beaches in walking distance and a diverse selection of shops, cafés, restaurants and seasonal cultural events.
Newquay also provides excellent amenities including two secondary schools, supermarkets, a railway station, a boating lake, a small zoo, sports clubs and a links golf course overlooking Fistral Beach.
The Newquay area is well connected to Cornwall's main routes, with a branch rail line that links into the high-speed rail services to London Paddington and Glasgow. Cornwall's Airport at Newquay has return flights to London as well as other domestic and international destinations.

Description

Gwelva Lowenek is a terrace of seven houses of traditional construction, with barrel shaped roofs, rendered concrete and wooden cladding. Accommodation is over three floors with an entrance from the private parking bay to the lower ground floor hallway and garage. Stairs to the first floor arrive at the garden level front entrance and hallway, naturally lit from the south facing aspect. Overlooking the front garden is a double bedroom. The second bedroom has an en suite shower room and patio doors to a balcony along the width of the house, with a lovely view of Fistral Beach. The wooden deck and glass balustrade balcony is large enough to accommodate a table and chairs for maximum enjoyment of the location. Also on this floor is a nicely tiled bathroom.
The second floor has another double bedroom to the front, with a separate WC and hand basin, and the fourth bedroom, a large room with an en suite shower room and the second-floor balcony with a fabulous beach view. The final staircase arrives at the open plan top floor, a bright and welcoming living area with the kitchen to the front aspect and opposite, the lofty, high ceilinged living room.
Fully fitted with appliances and white units under wood effect countertops, the kitchen is an attractive, practical space accommodating a large dining table and enjoying a far-reaching view towards to Crantock on the far side of the Gannel estuary.
The living room has a floor to ceiling window and opens onto the top balcony, which, as with the lower ones, is well screened by a high wall on each side and entirely private. However, at this height the view opens to spectacular Fistral Bay and the dramatic coastline of Watergate and Bedruthan, as far as Trevose Head. Some of Newquay's prominent features are in the middle distance, such as the historic Huer's Hut and the Headland Hotel, but in front is the wide ocean view, with ceaselessly rolling waves onto the beautiful sandy beach.

The décor throughout the house is light and contemporary, predominantly white with pale wood doors, white and grey wood effect floors, smartly tiled bath and shower rooms and attractive decorative details such as the recessed lamps beside each staircase. The furniture and fittings throughout create a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere.

Exterior
There is a garage (single, but with good storage and laundry area as well as a large water tank) and a parking space in a private courtyard at the rear of the terrace, accessed from Ocean View. To the front is a level walled garden, neatly planted, with a wooden gate onto Pentire Avenue.

Directions

From the A30 take the A39 at Indian Queens and the A392 to Quintrell Downs. Continue to Trevemper Roundabout and the second exit to Gannel Road and up to Mount Wise roundabout. Turn left along Pentire Road which leads directly to Pentire Avenue. Gwelva Lowenek is a little way along on the right, beside a lane marked Ocean View.
