Manor Cottage has direct access on to Smithwood Common, consisting of swathes of common land and close to Winterfold Forest and The Hurtwood, and provideds excellent riding, walking and mountain bike trails. Cranleigh is less than two miles away with an array of shops and a thriving cricket, football and rugby club community. A leisure centre and a golf and country club are also within the village There are many schools in the vicinity, including Cranleigh School. The county town of Guildford, with its main line station and regular commuter service to Waterloo is seven miles away.

Directions:
From Guildford, follow the A281, Horsham Road, south for 1.6 miles to Shalford and, at the roundabout, take the first exit onto Kings Road, the A248, towards Cranleigh and Wonersh. Follow this road for about 4.5 miles, as it becomes the B2128, to the roundabout at Gaston Gate. Take the first exit and, after a short distance, turn left into Smithwood Common Road, then left again into Alderbrook Road. Manor cottage can be found further down on the right.
