Melin Newydd Cottages are located on the Isle of Anglesey which is situated north west of the mainland in North Wales, a popular holiday destination drawing visitors from all over the UK and beyond. The area has recently been dubbed the 'Adventure Capital of Europe' having benefitted from multi-million pound investments into the area with activity centres and outdoor pursuits such as Zip World, Adventure Parc Snowdonia, Bounce Below and the four National Outdoor Centres.

The property is accessed via Junction 6 of the A55 onto the A5 and then along Llangefni Road through the village of Bodffordd onto the B5109 through Tynlon. From there a private road laid to hardcore leads via a gated entranceway to a car parking area laid to Welsh slate and a roadway to each of the cottages.

The cottages are all located to the northern boundary, each having a designated area with allocated parking. The adjacent paddock forms the remaining area of land which is included within the sale.

Description

Melin Newydd, (Welsh for 'New Mill') dates back to 1833 and as such is thought to be one of the last working windmills built on Anglesey. It was previously owned by the former owner of the well-known Bodorgan Estate, Owen John Augustus Fuller Meyrick, who's initials remain above the door.
It is thought the windmill was operated as a fully functioning mill until the early 1920's when it closed due to storm damage and was then used to provide shelter for grazing cattle.
The property was then purchased by the family of the current owners in 2003 and planning permission was granted in 2006 to convert the mill and two outbuildings into dwellings for holiday use.
The restoration of the buildings then began in 2010 with the conversion of the windmill documented in George Clarke's Channel 4 programme 'Restoration Man'.
