A Hamptons estate owned by Phyllis Pressman, the wife of late Barneys New York department store Chairman Fred Pressman, is coming on the market for $52.5 million.
The Pressmans built the 6,000-square-foot houseabout 45 years ago, according to Tim Davis of the Corcoran Group.
The property, which sits on Southampton’s Meadow Lane, one of the most expensive enclaves in the Hamptons, has a fairy-tale look, with a wood-shingled roof that resembles thatching.
The house was designed by the architecture firm Beyer Blinder Belle. The interiors were done by Andrée Putman. In contrast to its exterior, the 7-bedroom property has contemporary interiors.
There is a large family room with a dramatic bay of windows. From the entry foyer, a curving staircase leads to the second floor, which has a studio-style open plan living room with an office area, doors opening onto a large terrace and a dining room with a fireplace.
A third floor is home to the master suite and a circular sitting room and a guest room. The property also includes a pool, a tennis court and a 2-car garage with a studio apartment.
The house sits directly on the ocean on Meadow Lane, which is home to a number of financiers, celebrities and business titans.
