Joseph Chetrit Fetches $25 Million for Upper East Side Townhouse
February 10, 2021 - Manhattan
Real-estate investor Joseph Chetrit has sold a Manhattan townhouse for $25 million to an unknown buyer.
The deal is one of the largest to close in New York City since the coronavirus pandemic hit, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Mr. Chetrit had listed the eight-bedroom, 32-foot-wide townhouse on East 76th Street in 2017 for $39 million.
It spans six floors and roughly 13,000 square feet, with an elevator, cigar bar and rooftop garden.
A glass-enclosed gym overlooks a 36-foot-long swimming pool on the top floor, according to the listing with Tal Alexander and Richard Steinberg of Douglas Elliman.
The property is one of three townhouses created from the combination of six brownstones Mr. Chetrit bought from Lenox Hill Hospital for $26 million in 2007.
The facades of the original buildings were preserved while the interiors were completely reconstructed.
