Eli Broad asks $75 million for Billionaire's Beach mansion
April 27, 2020 - Malibu
Eli Broad, perhaps Los Angeles’ most famous developer-turned civic champion, is putting his Carbon Beach mansion on the market for $75 million.
Broad bought two beachfront lots on the strip of sand in Malibu known as “Billionaires’ Beach” in 2001, and hired starchitect Richard Meier to design a glass-and-white aluminum modernist structure, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The property has been a frequent getaway for Broad and his wife Edythe, given its proximity to their primary Brentwood residence.
“Ours is probably the most important house currently for sale on Carbon Beach,” Broad told the newspaper. “It’s a masterpiece.”
Hilton & Hyland’s Branden and Rayni Williams have the listing for the five-bedroom home, which spans just under 5,400 square feet, sits on about 105 feet of oceanfront property and features an ocean-facing deck and outdoor dining area.
