Anthony Hopkins’ Malibu home asks $11.5 Million
February 17, 2020 - Malibu
The Malibu home of Anthony Hopkins is listing for $11.5 million.
Perched on a cliff overlooking the ocean between Zuma Beach and Point Dume, the property was built in the 1950s and spans roughly 4,000 square feet with five bedrooms and five bathrooms, two fireplaces and a large living room.
The house sits on about an acre of land with a pool and a garden.
The property survived the Woolsey Fire that consumed much of the area just over a year ago and completely destroyed the house next door, as well as subsequent mudslides that eroded the face of the cliff.
Mr. Hopkins lived a relatively simple life in the home, according to listing agent Santiago Arana of The Agency.
An artist and musician, he often played the piano, and set up an art room in a cabana by the pool.
A sauna in the master bathroom has a wall of glass to maximize the views of the beach.
Mr. Arana said home values in the area suffered a small dip in the wake of the fires but have since rebounded. A 2,175-square-foot on the same strip sold for $11.8 million late last year.
