World's largest artificial island for sale

An island created in 1890 by King Christian IX is now for sale. Middelgrundsfortet is the largest artificial island, not connected to land, in the world.
The island, located only 15 minutes off the coast of the Danish capital, is approximately 70.000 m2 with a built up area of approximately 15.000 m2.
The fortress is protected as a heritage site because of the great cultural and historical value as a preserved piece of coastal defense.

Floating island concept for Dubai's The World

An unique five bed property that can float has been unveiled by a Dubai based joint venture that believes it could work well for The World project in the emirate.
The ‘Ome is a floating home on a monocoque type structure which is designed to meet maritime regulations and those of The World developer Nakheel.
It has been put together by Atoll Floating Islands, a joint venture between Palmerstone and Donald Starkey Designs.

Panama: $ 300 million Ocean Reef Islands Project

Panama president Ricardo Martinelli this week officially launched a project to build two artificial islands for a luxury home development off the coast of Panama City.
Ocean Reef Islands will create almost 200,000 square meters of landfill for "a variety of home sites that redefine waterfront property ownership surrounded by an array of exclusive living options for connoisseurs of luxury".
